Hello,
i use the Microsoft Ergo 4000 controller definition with my keyboard and noticed that two keys are interchanged (s. Image):
The one near "TAB" and "1" gives "<" and ">" (should give "^" and "°") and the one near "Left shift" and "Y" gives "^" and "°" (should give "<" and ">"). I tried to swap them, but found that no control is available for the one that actually gives "^" and "°". The one that actually gives "<" and ">" is titled as "Grave accent and Tilde". Is it possible to add that control to the existing controller type?

If you select the keyboard in the Palette window and press the ^/° key, does one of the items in the Palette window light up? If so, which one? _________________ Ken

If i press the ^/° key (the one near 1 and TAB) the "Grave accent and tilde" lights up, if i press the <> key (the one near the left shift key) nothing lights up. That is the reason why i opened this topic.

It would be strange for ControllerMate to not see a standard button.
If you run the scanner application and perform the "unnecessary controls" test, does anything appear in the list of "Real Controls" when the <> key is pressed? If so, then there I should be able to create an importable file to add compatibility with that button. _________________ Ken

I ran the scanner application and indeed the "Real Control" of the <> key was "Non ASCII \ and |". I continued checking the controls and found some strange things:
- The "a" and the "ä" were recoreded as indentical controls
- The ArrowUp, ArrowRight and ArrowDown keys were recorded as identical keys
- A lot of control "titles" are not appropriate.
This might be because this is the german version of the keyboard. Anyway, i made a scanner output file and sent it to you.

This is a bit unexpected ... especially the a/ä keys and the arrow keys. Also some of the information in the scanner file is strange.
Is there a Microsoft driver installed for this keyboard? A custom driver could make things more difficult to understand. _________________ Ken

Not that i'm aware of. I had the Microsoft driver installed formerly, but uninstalled it. I checked that the deinstallation was succesful by looking for Microsoft*.kext in the /System/Extension directory and by looking for Microsoft specific files in /Library/Keyboard Layouts, but it is clear. I checked the system profiler and didn't find anything related to the Ergo Keyboard. Is there any place i could check further?
Btw, i have a Wacom Intuos 2 graphic tablet installed. Can this interfere?

Not likely. I have a Wacom Intuous 3 attached with the Wacom software installed. Their software blocks ControllerMate from seeing activity from the tablet, but nothing else is affected.
Regarding the up/right/down arrow keys, do they work correctly even though ControllerMate sees them as the same key? _________________ Ken

Yes, they do, as well as "a" and "ä". The only keys that don't work as expected are the "^/°" and the "<>".
