I got a new Logitech MX518 to replace the one I've had for years... I plugged it in, expecting it to continue to work nicely with ControllerMate, but it doesn't.

I must confess that I only understand about 0.5% of what CM can do, and find configuring it to be a somewhat daunting task. As such, I'm at a bit of a loss to figure out what's different, and how to fix it.

My config is simple: I have the thumb button mapped to "Apple Left Arrow" (as in, the back button), and the other thumb button mapped to "Apple H" (to hide the current application).

Can somebody give me some clues on where/how to make this new mouse (which ought to act the same, unless Logitech changed the firmware or what have you) act like my old one did, where CM is concerned?

Thanks!

It sounds like there is more than one version of the MX518 and ControllerMate is seeing the new one as a completely different device.

To get your setup to work with the new mouse, you will need to replace the existing Button building blocks with ones for the same controls on the new mouse. If you have a controller configuration for the old mouse (to disable the original behavior of the buttons), then a new one will have to be created for the new mouse.

Excellent -- that did the trick. Thanks!
